DESCRIPTION:The St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce and the St. Thomas Seniors' Centre are co-hosting an evening event to give you the chance to "Meet-and-Greet" the candidates vying for spots in the upcoming election on October 22. This All Candidates "Meet-and-Greet" is planned for Wednesday October 3 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas Seniors' Centre\, 225 Chestnut Street\, St. Thomas. This event is being presented jointly by the Chamber and the Seniors' Centre. There will be no admission charge but advance registration is appreciated.\n\nThink of the event in a trade show format\, but with candidates each manning their own table display! Tour the room and speak to those seeking election in the City of St. Thomas\, the Township of Southwold\, the Municipality of Central Elgin and on the two local Boards of Education.\n\nInvitations are now being sent to those in the running.\n\nNominations closed for the election last Friday afternoon with 56 people declaring their intention to challenge 20 seats on the local councils and school boards.\n\nIn the City of St. Thomas 4 are running for Mayor and 19 people are in the running for the 8 seats on City Council. In Central Elgin\, 3 are running for Mayor\, 3 for Deputy Mayor and 10 people seeking one of the 5 Council seats.
